What We Did.
With the need for consistent tweaks and updates, our development team worked on the site on a daily basis. Whilst our whole team was involved in the project, we often had members of our development team working exclusively on the site because of the ongoing work required.
We stripped out all the old code from the site, replacing it with new and efficient code. This made the site much faster and optimised it for search. We developed a lot of custom functions including an API which automatically pulls the latest odds from the bookmakers, live to the site. In the world of betting, information is everything and so we were always looking for ways to better display and update tips to maximise value for users. With over 70% of their user base accessing the site on mobile devices, a responsive site was essential and so the mobile version was transformed with a whole new look and feel.
All this translated into tangible results. We migrated them over to WP Engine, our partner company who manage our servers (the Rolls Royce of WordPress hosting!). This took the site from a 5 second load time to a 0.5 second load time. Over a 12 month period we’ve measured an increase in site traffic from 900,000 sessions to 3.1 million sessions per month. That’s an increase of over 2 million sessions per month, with a significant portion of that traffic coming from outside the UK. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding.
