Introduction.

At Illustrate Digital we are looking to expand our development team and provide exciting opportunities to a mid-level developer who is interested in working with an experienced team with a passion for making the web better one website at a time. As a member of a WordPress Specialist Agency you would have excellent previous experience in the industry and a strong understanding of WordPress, WooCommerce and associated development requirements.

You need to have solid experience with PHP, Javascript, CSS and using frameworks such as Bootstrap to develop a website.

The position is full-time at 5 days per week, paid a salary between £22,000 to £32,000 depending on experience.

Work times are flexible and negotiable.

You are entitled to 28 days holiday per year, including Bank Holidays.

Detailed Job Description.

You should have a real hunger for building the best websites you can and have a passion for WordPress. Using git, Gulp, other modern technologies and various local development workflows is a core part of working with us. You would have experience building great customer experiences that don’t just focus on building a functional site but go beyond that to ensure every part of a website is crafted to excellence – CMS interfaces, post types, front-end user experience etc.

You must be able to develop as part of a team. This will be important to ensure that you consider others at all times. This will mean solid commenting, great consideration for code structure and a willingness to adopt code guidelines and actively develop these in our growing team. Ideally you would have an understanding of git version control and how to utilise it as part of a team.

Additional experience that would be helpful includes integrations using APIs and a knowledge of the WordPress and WooCommerce APIs.

You should be willing to positively engage with a team who are looking for the best for our clients and each other. We are a fun team who love nothing more than to push each other forward so expect a friendly and challenging environment.

You would be working alongside the Lead Developer to build, maintain and improve our websites, plugins and other associated code. You will be communicating with the rest of the team on how best to support clients with our platform.


Job Requirements.

  • Excellent knowledge of PHP5+ and MySQL4/5+
  • Excellent working knowledge and experience with WordPress, WooCommerce HTML, CSS, and jQuery.
  • At least 4 years development experience or 3 years experience with WordPress and WooCommerce development.
  • Experienced and proficient with responsive design and development using Twitter Bootstrap.
  • Knowledge of XML and JSON feeds is useful.
  • Full Stack – Ability to work both on the Front and Back end.
  • Ability to set up and build new WordPress sites, customise existing sites.
  • Technical knowledge for maintaining WordPress websites.
  • Love to build efficient and usable code that can be worked on by more than just yourself.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Great attention to detail and ability to manage you own time efficiently.
  • Becoming a part of our family and taking the lead on projects while working very closely with designers as well as clients from planning to delivery.
