Is your WooCommerce site ready for Christmas shopping?

Woocommerce - Ecommerce Software for WordPressThere are some people that get all their Christmas shopping done before December. They periodically buy gifts throughout the year, sensibly spreading their spending and buying themselves time to relax and enjoy the holiday season. However, they are the 1% and no-one likes them.

For the rest of us, it’s about that time when we start to think about maybe beginning our present buying. For online shop owners, that means making sure that your site is completely ready for the flood of purchases and traffic (fingers crossed, anyway!).

With that in mind, here’s 5 tips for WooCommerce site owners, to make sure you’re ready for Christmas.

1. Everyone loves a deal!

Why not create a coupon code? Crunch the numbers, work out what works best for you and create a discount code. WooCommerce gives you plenty of options: you can adjust the lifespan of the code, create multiple codes for multiple products or one for everything: the choice is yours!

2. Put the decorations up!

Why not consider changing the theming of your shop? Switching to a Christmas theme for your site or even for your email marketing can help your customers get in the holiday spirit and the mood to spend!

3. Make sure the place is tidy.

It’s worth going through your site, just like a customer would and making sure everything is working the way it should. Are the links working? Does the cart checkout properly? Is your stock control function working? It’s the small things that make the big difference.

4. Are you tracking effectively?

It’s incredibly useful to be tracking what pages and links your customers are responding to. Set a goal (for example, for customers to be clicking on a page or visiting a certain link) and measure it with Google Analytics. If you’re running a special offer, tracking whether people are using it is business sense 101!

5. Are you using the best payment processor?

Before you start processing all those lovely payments, it might be worth just thinking whether you’re using the best processor for them. Are you getting the best value for your money? Our partners at Secure Trading run a top class e-commerce payment system that is definitely worth checking out!

So there it is, 5 tips for you, as you get your WooCommerce site ready for Christmas! Don’t say we never treat you! 😉
