There’s a question that comes up again and again when we’re talking to clients is “But can WordPress really handle my site?” A quick Google search of “Can WordPress handle heavy traffic” reveals over 1 million searches: it’s a question people are asking!

Due to its reputation as a blogging platform, there’s a myth that WordPress isn’t able to manage a bigger website or something like an E-Commerce site. We’re a WordPress Specialist agency so you have probably already guessed, we don’t buy into this at all.

WordPress is maintained and built by a worldwide community that work tirelessly to make it the industry standard for CMS’s (Content Management Systems). But, don’t just take our word for it. Here’s some 2016 statistics about WordPress and its use across the internet…

    • Many of the Fortune 500 – including Forbes, Sony Music, Microsoft, Playstation, Walt Disney, Best Buy, UPS, Xerox, Tesoro, and TechCrunch – use WordPress. I suspect that if it’s good enough for them, it’s probably going to be able to handle your site too.

    • In 2015, there were 50,000 new WordPress websites added daily. That’s a lot of internet.

    • There are 59.3 million new posts on WordPress blogs per month. Wow.

Those are some pretty hefty statistics. And, to zoom in a bit, our biggest clients have all come to us because of WordPress and the capabilities it offers. Whether it’s E-Commerce or some pretty sweet custom functionality, WordPress gives the flexibility that top brands and businesses need.

Of course, we can’t talk about the platform without mentioning how usable it is for our customers and their marketing teams. One of the big downsides for a lot of business websites is how rigid and difficult they are to update and this is one of the selling points we push hard at Illustrate… You want to spend money on your website knowing that it makes it as easy as possibly to carry out your day-to-day marketing activities.

WordPress is built on the ‘post type’ structure, the idea that you can quickly update any part of your website by adding a new post… So things like latest news, properties, products, events, team members, services can be added or removed with ease. And when you combine post types with great extensions like Visual Composer, you make the job even easier!

That’s why we love it, that’s why we specialise in it and if you’re interested then we’d love to introduce you to the WordPress world too.
